France Telecom’s mobile telephony and internet unit Orange has signed a series of contracts with international movie studios including HBO, Warner and Gaumont to support its planned DTH satellite service. It is not known whether the contracts carry any period of exclusivity.
In an interview with Les Echos CEO Didier Lombard said he wanted to offer a selection of more than 1,000 movies over cable TV, internet and phone.
Orange is planning to launch a satellite-based DTH service that would support its popular TV over ADSL service in France.
