MIPTV – CANNES. French DTT transmissions now reach 19,286,000 people, or 34.9% of total French TV viewers, according to the latest research by Mediamétrie.
As could be expected, the traditional channels TF1, France 2, France 3, Canal+, France 5, Arte and M6 see their total share of viewing going down: 73.5% of DTT viewers watch these channels, as opposed to 78.6% for the overall viewing population. Of these channels, Canal+ is hurt the most, with a 1.8% share compared with 3.4% of all viewers.
People with DTT receivers also watch slightly longer television: 3’54” a day, up from the national average of 3’33”. The traditional analogue channels still attract the most viewers, with TF1 in first place with 27.6% amongst DTT viewers (28% of all viewers), France 2 with 16.4% (17.7%), France 3 with 12.2% (13.8%) and M6 with 10.7% (10.9%). Canal+ loses its 5th position, its place taken by TMC and Gulli, each with 4.3% of the DTT viewership.
