The Dutch DTH platform Canal Digitaal Satelliet announced a further price increase of its basic tier to €59.95 a year, up €10 and the third major increase during the past few years. The operator still claims to be the cheapest option for digital television, but the basic tier consists of only 10 channels.
The increase will take place on May 1, 2008. KPN Digitenne, the Dutch DTT operator, is the runner-up with a monthly fee of €6.95 for 23 channels.
Canal Digitaal has also said it had to drop BBC Prime from its extended tiers because the channel left the Astra 19.2 position. On the second Astra position for Holland, 23.5 degrees, the operator now has added the local Amsterdam broadcaster AT5 for a three month trial period.
