Polsat secures HD channel licences

April 2, 2008 12.35 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Polish National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has awarded Polsat three satellite TV channel licences.

According to local reports, the channels in question are news-based Polsat 24 and the HD services Polsat HD and Polsat HD Sport.

Although there is as yet no indication when the three channels will make their debuts, it is known that Polsat 24 will operate separately to TV Biznes, a news and business channel acquired by Polsat last year.

Polsat Sport HD has effectively been on air since last November, though only offering the same programming as its SD counterpart.
