The game of pro-celebrity bingo continues at General Entertainment & Technology Corporation, the company that owns Static2358, PlayJam and Electra Entertainment. The latest name to be associated with the company is former director of new media and broadcast divisions at BT and BSkyB, John Swingewood has been appointed as a strategic adviser.
Swingewood joins Static’s founder Jasper Smith and Pace founder Barry Rubery, the chief executive of Electra Entertainment, which is promoting software for set-top boxes that significantly reduces the bandwidth required to run interactive applications.
Swingewood left BT after 25 years and turning the Broadcast Services division into a £250 million business. He then developed Sky’s interest in internet and e-commerce applications before leaving to establish the Digital Interactive Television Group (DITG), later sold to YooMedia.
A number of industry regulars have also been spotted under the General Entertainment umbrella.
