A majority of Poles are against the privatisation of the public broadcaster TVP and believe it should be funded by the state.
According to a poll undertaken by the social research company CBOS, 43% of those questioned were against TVP being privatised and 25% supported a partial sell-off, while 62% said it should receive state funding and 23% favoured the retention of receiver licence fees.
Interestingly, 75% also supported TVP carrying commercials even if it is funded by the state.
The future of TVP is currently the subject of intense debate, with the government looking at various, and in some instances controversial, options.
