Doubts are emerging as to whether Poland will see the launch of a DVB-H service later this year.
Following an earlier statement by Anna Strezynska, the president of the Office for Electronic Communications (UKE), that a tender for a 12-channel service would be opened in late June/early July, several people have said Poland may not yet be ready for mobile TV.
Quoted in the local press, Witold Kolodziejski, the head of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), said that the necessary legislation was not yet in place.
He added that in any case a DTT platform should be launched before a DVB-H service made its debut. Views also differ as to whether mobile TV should be regarded as a telecom or broadcast service.
