Fox Germany will officially launch on May 19 on the Arensat DTH platform and Unitymedia cable networks in Nordrhine-Westphalia and Hesse. Last week, the Berlin-Brandenburg media authority issued the broadcaster with a licence.
The move follows similar ventures in other countries. “Our service is based on top international series, of which many will be available for the first time in German speaking countries,” said David Haslingden, CEO of Fox International Channels, in a prepared statement.
After a 1993 launch Fox is available in 45 million households worldwide. In 2004, Fox launched the German version of the National Geographic Channel.
