Gemstar-TV Guide has launched its GUIDE Plus+ Interactive Program Guide (IPG) into the German market following an agreement with Eurosport.
The IPG is being incorporated into personal video recorders and set-tops manufactured under brands including Panasonic, Philips, Sony and Pioneer. It will eventually replace Gemstar’s VCR+ technology known in Germany under the Showview brand.
Where available, Eurosport will carry the IPG information within its datastream, as part of its existing multi-country agreement with Gemstar.
No additional fee is payable by the consumer, which is built directly into consumer electronic devices.
