French IPTV operator Neuf Cegetel will add HD video-on-demand to its offer as well as improve the technical quality of the IPTV service offering a better picture quality and a more intuitive user interface.
Using a new portal called ‘L’Actu Neuf VOD’, consumers should be able to navigate the service more easily. Viewers can now chose between 5,000 programmes in the different shop windows, including TF1 Vision and M6 Video, the catch-up services of the two major French commercial broadcasters.
In May, Neuf said it will improve the picture quality of all its HD customers using the so-called Pure Pixel technology. Part of the upgrade will consist of offering HD content in its VOD service. At year end 2007, Neuf TV had 750,000 subscribers out of a total of 3.22 million broadband customers.
