The Franco-German cultural channel Arte is set to launch in HD on the French DTT network on October 30. The channel will broadcast free-to-air in MPEG-4. In Germany, the HD version of the channel won’t be available until January 2009, when full time satellite transmissions will start, as reported in Broadband TV News. No announcements have yet been made about the satellite distribution of the French language version.
