RTL Nederland is in talks with the two major Dutch cable operators about the inclusion of the catch-up service RTLGemist.nl on the digital VOD platforms. At the moment, only such a service from the public broadcasters is available on UPC.
RTLGemist is now active as an online service generating 9.5 million requests during the past month. Most popular are RTL News, the Dutch version of ‘Idols’ and a reality series about restaurants. For a number of years the Uitzendingemist.nl service from the public broadcasters has been extremely popular, first as an online portal only, now also on UPC digital.
When the three Zesko cable operators will roll out their VOD service, both RTL and the public broadcasters also hope to be a part of it. Earlier, SBS said is in talks with operators to offer their new Maxdome VOD service on the networks. At the moment, it is only available online.
