CeBIT – Hanover. Vodafone will launch smart phones with DVB-T on the German market, said Friedrich Joussen, CEO Vodafone Deutschland. The new phones are able to receive existing DTT broadcasts.
For the moment, Vodafone is just showcasing the technology in Hanover with two models, the HB620T from LG and the T600 DVB-T from GSmart. With these new phones, there is no need to wait for the outroll of the DVB-H services. GSmart already showed its DVB-T phone at last year’s CeBIT.
Vodafone plans to improve mobile TV over its own UMTS network using the (QVGA) HD technology with Video-Codec H.264.
