CeBIT – Hannover. Deutsche Telekom has lowered the pricing of its IPTV packages in what it calls a “price offensive”. The various Entertain packages will now be available for up to 17% less, with the Entertain Comfort package €10 cheaper at €49.95 a month.
The new pricing policy was announced during a press conference at CeBIt and should put the operator in a better position competing with triple play offers from others. Starting in mid-April, the Entertain Comfort Plus package will be available for €59.95, down from €74.95. The new Entertain Premium package will be available starting in April for €69.95.
“Starting in April, our customers will be able to program their media receivers over the Internet from any PC or Internet-capable handset,” said Timotheus Höttges, Deutsche Telekom board member responsible for T-Home Sales and Service.
Over the Web, customers have direct access to TV listings, from which they can select the programme they are looking for and, using their password, program their receiver to record it. The Entertain complete packages will also let customers use their television to view and listen to photos and music they have on their PC.
Deutsche Telekom will also continue to drive VDSL and ADSL2+ development: up to 20 million more households will gain high-speed Internet access – and with that the capability to use IPTV – by the end of 2008. (On the picture Timotheus Höttges and Philipp Humm during the CeBIT press conference)
