Comstar-UTS has announced that its Ukrainian subsidiary Comstar-Ukraina has launched an IPTV service in the city of Odessa. The service will initially offer 60 mostly thematic channels, with the number being eventually raised to 90 and VOD also made available. According to Comstar-UTS, it will also launch an IPTV service in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, by the end of the year. Until now, the incumbent telco Ukrtelecom was expected to launch what would be Ukraine’s first full IPTV service in the first half of this year. Known as U.tv, it will be operated jointly with the national commercial station Inter and offer around 100 channels.
