The Czech companies TV Barrandov and EBD, the operator of Regionálni Televizni Agentury (RTA), have had their digital TV licences confirmed by the country’s Broadcasting Council (RRTV). They now have 360 days to launch their services, though in the case of TV Barrandov it is likely to make its debut much sooner. TV Barrandov and RTA are two of six companies awarded digital TV licences in April 2006 that were subsequently withdrawn following protests from (amongst others) TV Nova. They are now entitled to compensatory licences, according to legislation that came into effect at the beginning of this year.
