Following French research that shows that digital television now reaches 46.5% of the population and is driven mainly by DTT uptake, SES-Astra has issued a press release saying that the free-to-view platform TNTSat from the Groupe Canal+ has now reached 350,000 homes. The service is intended mainly for those people that live outside the DTT coverage area. TNTSat offers access to all 18 terrestrial free-TV channels, with as an added bonus the France O channel and all 24 regional editions of France 3. Viewers need a special smart card which is valid for a period of four years.
