Two contracts of note for Portugal’s recently rebranded cablenet ZON TV Cabo. OpenTV has announced the operator will adopt its middleware and enterprise solutions while Alcatel-Lucent will develop a new call centre.
TV Cabo has chosen OpenTV’s Core 2 and PVR2 technology to support its upcoming launch of HD and PVR services. OpenTV’s fifth generation technology will sit alongside the established conditional access service of parent company Nagravision.
HD PVR is scheduled to launch in the second quarter and is expected to be followed by the introduction of video on demand.
The Portuguese Telecom company is also planning to establish the largest single platform contact centre ever implemented in Portugal.
The 1,700 agent call centre will use technology from Alcatel-Lucent’s Genesys. Alcatel-Lucent OSS and BSS systems are also a part of the package alongside its project integration experience.
