Tiscali is to offer subscribers free access to the premiere of the new British romcom January 2nd. The bittersweet comedy is being made available both to IPTV customers and through www.tiscali.co.uk. It follows an agreement with the movie’s producers, the independent Guerilla films.
The title is being released on February 28 from when IPTV subscribers will be able to watch the film through the Movies Now channel.
“There are more blockbusters films being made than ever before, sadly this has squeezed out the small independent British film,” said David Nicholas Wilkinson, Chairman, Guerilla Films Ltd. “It has become a David and Goliath struggle to try to put lower budget films before an audience, however, the Tiscali platform provides the ideal catapult to give January 2nd the launch it deserves.”
Hugh Williams, Executive Director, Content & Programming, Tiscali TV added that consumer appetite for on demand TV and online movie downloads made the cross platform launch an increasingly effective option.
