The method of financing public broadcasting is to be overhauled in Slovakia, with viewers being charged a combined receiver licence fee. According to local reports, they will from this April be set at SKK140 (€4.27) a month, with the amount being split between the public broadcaster STV and its radio counterpart SRo in the ratio of 7:3. STV’s two national channels currently command a combined audience share of around 22-22%, and it is preparing to launch a third service this summer.
