Poland’s two leading broadcasters have failed to reach an agreement over the rights to the Euro 2008 football championships later this year. According to Polsat, which holds the rights, TVP missed a February 6 deadline to confirm a deal that had apparently been negotiated by the two parties. TVP, on the other hand, claims that Polsat offered it fewer than half the rights while demanding two-thirds of their total value. Polsat will show some of the matches from Euro 2008 on its FTA national channel and all on the DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat, which has just over 2 million subscribers.
