Orange will partner with Samsung for the introduction of its DTH service, said chairman Didier Lombard to French newspaper Les Echos. The receivers will be equipped with a PVR and an HD tuner. The operator expects to order between 1 and 1.5 million sets when it rolls out the service. Although no details have been made available, the Eutelsat Hotbird is expected to be the satellite of choice for the new DTH platform. Earlier this week Orange acquired some of the French football rights which it will incorporate in its Orange Sports channel, which is already available on its IPTV platform and the Bis DTH offer from Groupe AB.
