This February Portugal will start the tender for the planned DTT service, according to the minister of Public Works and Telecommunications, Mário Lino. Applications will be accepted for free-to-air and encrypted premium services. At the moment, there are four national analogue channels available in the country, two from public broadcaster RTP and two from the commercial channels, SIC and TVI.There are around 3.5 million TV homes in Portugal, of these, 2 million are pay-TV subscribers, 1.5 million through Zon TV Cabo including 500,000 satellite households.
