The Polish public broadcaster TVP has effectively ruled out launching a DTH platform this year, and certainly before the Beijing Olympics. Speaking to the local press, board member Marcin Bochenek nevertheless confirmed that planning for such a platform is in progress and at an advanced stage. He also said that TVP is preparing to introduce HD services, though this can realistically only happen when the platform is up and running. TVP’s interest in launching a DTH platform has been known for some time, as has the fact that it has been in negotiations with SES Astra about the project.
