The Polish premier league football association Ekstraklasa will later today decide who to award TV rights for the next three seasons. Canal+ has surprised observers by entering into a partnership with the incumbent telco TPSA and is understood to be offering PLN125 million (€34.6 million) a season. It has also promised to launch a separate channel dedicated to Ekstralasa that would be available on Cyfra+ and TPSA’s IPTV service videostrada, as well as offered to cable operators. ITI and Polsat are meanwhile believed to be offering PLN100 million and would also launch a channel named Polska Ekstraklasa TV. Significantly, Ekstraklasa has ruled out launching its own football channel.
