Virgin Media has announced the commencement of a major broadband upgrade programme. Customers on the so-called ‘L’ tier will be upgraded from the present 4Mbps to 10Mbps. The marketing department revelling in the 2Mbps advantage over BT Broadband and other ADSL services. It is anticipated the upgrade will be completed by the summer.
Last year Virgin successful conducted a series of trials in Ashford, Folkstone and Dover. It is anticipated that this ‘superfast’ service will be made available to over 9 million UK homes by the end of 2008. This will replace the current top speed of 20Mbps.
