RTL has announced Bert Habets is to take over from Fons van Westerloo as the CEO of RTL Nederland with effect from February 8. The 61-year-old Van Westerloo will join the broadcaster’s supervisory board and become an advisor to the RTL Group.Habets (37) steps up from the position of chief financial officer, which he has held since 2001.Gerhard Zeiler, Chief Executive of RTL Group and Chairman of the RTL Nederland Supervisory Board, praised Van Westerloo for his achievements at RTL Nederland.” In the past four years, he successfully turned around and restructured our Dutch TV operations. By focusing on the strong RTL brand, he has successfully developed the country’s leading family of TV channels into a highly profitable operation.”Zeiler added that Habets was the right man to take RTL Nederland into the digital world.
