Netherlands-based homeshopping Tel Sell has run into financial problems. In order to prevent liquidation of the company, the Dutch tax authorities have organised a public sale this Thursday to raise money to pay the tax bill. On the block will be inventory from the warehouse in Almere, office furniture, computer equipment and the complete call centre. Tel Sell is a privately owned Dutch company, founded in 1993, which sells products in infomercials across Europe on various commercial channels; Tel Sell also operates its own dedicated pan-european infomercial channel. In 2006 the company also started a joint venture with Chellomedia, which comprises the Dutch auction channel LiveShop. Difficulties at the company became apparent when Chellomedia announced disappointing results at the joint venture. Late last year, LiveShop announced it would drop its analogue cable distribution in favour of digital in order to reduce costs.
