The Turkish public broadcaster TRT is to broadcast its programming in eight languages via satellite, according to the country’s State Minister, Mehmet Aydin. Speaking to the local station CNN-Türk, he added that the languages would include Arabic, Kurdish, Farsi and possibly also Armenian. TRT currently offers five channels (TRT1-4 and TRT Gap) aimed specifically at the domestic market and two (TRT International and TRT Turk) for viewers abroad. It services are distributed by Türksat 2A and Hotbird 6.
