The incumbent telecom operator Telefonia Bonairiano (Telbo) on the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire has said it has launched IPTV under the name of “mitv” to its residential and business subscribers. Telbo is the first in the Caribbean and Central America to establish a triple play (video, voice and data) offering. Using an ADSL 2+ network, mitv offers around 110 channels, 50 Audio Channels,PPV and VOD.
As a first, the operator is the first in the Dutch Caribbean to offer the three Dutch national public chnanels, Nederland 1, 2 and 3, as part of the basic package consisting of around 40 channels, with a number of US channels including HBO, Discovery and FOX. Telbo also offers additonal premium packages. Telbo worked together with technology and project management consulting firm Savant Communications and with Manycast Consultancy, a provider of content, strategy and marketing consultancy services in the Caribbean and South/Central America.
