The Slovenian alternative carrier Tus Telekom is to employ an encoding solution from Envivio for its IPTV service. It will allow the telco to migrate from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 compression, thereby expanding its offer to 108 SD channels. It will also allow Tus Telekom to introduce six HD channels. Tus Telekom claims a 20% share of the Slovenian telecom market and has an annual turnover of over €600 million. Its IPTV service, which made its debut last year, is one of several in Slovenia, the longest established of which is the incumbent’s SiOL TV.
