The editorial staff of the French international broadcaster TV5Monde have gone back to work following a brief strike which started last Tuesday. The reason for the work stoppage was “the degradation of working conditions” at the channel. It also demanded more journalists and better salary scales.
The actions disrupted the various news flashes during the TV5 schedule. Although the strike is now over, the unions and journalists “remain ready to take action again” should talks with the management not produce results. According to the journalists union SNJ-CGT, the actions are not directly related to the planned integration of the three international French broadcasters TV5Monde, France 24 and RFI.
