BSkyB’s chief finance officer Jeremy Darroch has told a US audience that the DTH platform may find it harder to attract new customers should a UK consumer spending slowdown hit, but the company is confident it would be able to hold onto its existing subscriber base.
“I think in terms of acquisitions, it will probably be a bit more difficult getting people to make a financial commitment when they’re belt tightening, it’s reasonable to expect that’s going to be tougher,” said Darroch.
Addressing the UBS Media Conference in New York, Darroch said that its triple play offer of TV, broadband and telephony could become more important if people choose to spend more evenings in.
