Channel 4 has signed a new agreement with the internet TV platform Brightcove to support the inclusion of video content across all of its online properties. The UK broadcaster will kick off the agreement with a new promotional destination known as TV Clips that will include excerpts from current TV programmes, a flavour of the channel’s 25-year archive and previews of new programmes.
It is hoped that the new site will help drive traffic to the cross platform video on demand service 4oD, DVD purchases, and the broadcaster’s linear channels.
Earlier this week Channel 4, and fellow broadcasters BBC and ITV, announced plans for a joint web delivered VOD service under the working title Kangaroo.
The Brightcove functionality will allow video link sharing, the ability to email to a friend and embeddable video that users will be able to include Channel 4 content on their own sites. Ad supported content can also be incorporated.
