Virgin Media head of strategy Ernie Cormier is to leave the cablenet in the New Year. It is expected that head of customer care Steve Stewart will leave at the same time while the future of group finance chief Jacques Kerrest is also thought to be in doubt. Cormier, who until June was the company’s chief commercial officer, is said to have taken the decision to return with his wife to the United States some time ago.
The staff moves come as acting CEO Neil Berkett looks to make his mark on the cable operator, having already said that he wanted his period deputising in the top job to be seen as if he had been given the role permanently.
Berkett is putting a greater emphasis on the cablenet’s broadband capabilities, backing away in part from the entertainment led strategy, which has been hit by the long running basic carriage dispute with Sky.
