TeliaSonera has launched an IPTV service into the Greater Helsinki Area. Sonera Broadband TV is offering subscribers a mix of linear channels, on demand and HD television. The service will sit alongside broadband Internet that offers subscribers speeds of 100 Mbps.
HD channels included in the line-up are Discovery Channel, Silver, Voom and Luxe, while SF Anytime is providing an on demand service consisting of 1,000 titles including a selection of popular Finnish movies. A standard movie package that comprises the Canal+ total bouquet is also available for a monthly €29. The basic fee is being waived for the first 12 months.
85,000 households are covered by the new service, with the fibre-optic network being extended to a total of 150,000 households by the end of the year.
TeliaSonera has around 170,000 cable TV subscribers in Finland and 216,000 IPTV subscribers in neighbouring Sweden.
