The Swiss cable operator Cablecom has launched its first HD package, which includes the new public HD channel HD suisse. Also included are Arte HD and Canal+ HD, for a monthly fee of SF15 (€9.17) on top of their regular subscription fee.
Early next year, two or three more channels will be added. Most likely, the extended offer will include National Geographic HD and Discovery HD. The Swiss public HD channel plans to broadcast the Beijing Olympics in HD, as well as the UEFA Euro 2008 football games, which will take place in Switzerland and Austria. Next year, Cablecom will also offer its subscribers also a HD-PVR.
In related news, the cable operator has also launched a TV on PC service for its broadband access customers, offering 20 channels free to view.
