The Dutch cable operator Casema has decided to stop offering a ‘lifeline’ subscription. The budget cable TV subscription just offers a very basic tier of all must carry channels at a very low price. It comprises the Dutch and Belgian Dutch language public channels, which are available for a nominal fee.
As consumer interest for the budget subscription is almost non-existent and there is no legal obligation to carry such a lifeline subscription model, Casema has decided to drop the offer. Current customers who buy this package have to upgrade to basic analogue, which retails at around €15.50 a month.
