SBS has said it will not launch the digital channels it announced earlier for the Dutch market, at least not in the foreseeable future. According to commercial director Peter Vertregt, there is not a sound business model for thematic digital channels in the Dutch market, especially now that public broadcasters have launched no less than 17 thematic services.
As reported in Broadband TV News, SBS will start a Dutch version of the online VOD service Maxdome, which is part of the ProSiebenSat1 portfolio of products. SBS will also launch a Dutch version of the online User Generated Content video site myvideo.de.
