Bloomberg, France 24 and CBS News led the winners as the Association for International Broadcasting presented its annual global media awards. 12 categories covered television, radio and online.
US network CBS was honoured for the Clearest Coverage of a Single News Event – Television. The judges commented on “an outstanding report offering exclusive coverage with high production values”. They also noted the bravery of reporter Lara Logan.
France 24 shared the award for the Most Creative Marketing Concept with SW Radio Africa, which had used text messaging to circumvent local censorship. The judges said France 24’a launch campaign was very well thought through with animation used to bring in a younger audience.
Bloomberg Television was named as AIB International channel of the year – television
for “consistently high quality and punching above its weight, successfully marrying specialist material with more mainstream coverage of news and current affairs”
