Warner Brothers is to launch a VOD service that will be made available without additional charge to Virgin Media’s XL big basic tier. More than 500 episodes of Warner series including The West Wing, The OC and Nip/Tuck will be made available though it is possible the most recent series may not be available because they have been licensed to other UK broadcasters.
Subscribers to IPTV service BT Vision and to Virgin Media’s other two tiers will also be able to receive the service, which is branded Warner TV, for a £5 monthly fee.
Virgin is building value for its 1.6 million XL subscribers, which can already view the Setanta Sports package.
Warner has also launched VOD in a number of other markets including the Benelux where it has been a pioneer of the day & date concept that screens shows from the same day as their DVD release.
