BTN/TELENOR, PRAGUE: Speaking at the Broadband TV News/Telenor Satellite Broadcasting business breakfast in Prague, Febio TV development manager Petr Sladecek said that a third full-format channel in the Czech Republic could command an audience share of up to 10% by 2014. Although the Czech market is currently dominated by TV Nova and Prima TV – together they account for around 60% of viewers and 85% of TV ad revenue – he believes there is room for more channels. Febio TV is one of six companies awarded digital TV licences in 2006 that were subsequently withdrawn but will now be re-instated. Febio TV aims to launch in 2008 targeting an active urban viewership and using such broadcasters as Pro 7, RTL2, M6 and Channel 4 as benchmarks.
