Thomson is to supply Russia’s Sistema Mass Media with DVB-H technology for a new mobile multimedia service. Due to launch in early 2008, the service will initially be available in Moscow and 16 other Russian cities with populations over one million. It will be able to deliver up to 16 channels on a single multiplex and offered to all mobile network operators. Also in Russia, Sistema-backed Comstar-UTS has acquired the alternative telco Digital Telephone Networks South (DTN) for R4.1 billion (€114.3 million).
