Freeview launches regional ad campaign

November 16, 2007 09.53 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Freeview is today launching what is being described as its first ever television advertising campaign – unless you count all those free promotions on the BBC over the years. The campaign consisting of 40, 30 and ten second slots will air in the three regions where switchover is the closet; Border Central and Granada.

The ads will feature a giant red sofa and a scene of people appearing over the brow of a hill. The voiceover is by the write and actor Sanjeev Bhaskar, best known for The Kumars at No. 42.

The commercials will be accompanied by an outdoor campaign in the regions that will be placed close to major retailers such as Comet and Tesco. An online creative will feature the Freeview Playback personal video recorder.
