According to a local report, the Russian Television and Radio Network (RTRS) is in negotiations with Sistema to buy out the latter’s 50% stake in the Moscow-based pay-TV operation Kosmos TV. The main sticking point appears to be the price, with Sistema asking for around $7 million (€4.79 million) and RTRS believing the company to be worth less than half the amount. Kosmos TV is one of the longest established operators in Russia, having been launched by the US’s Metromedia International and Russian partners in 1991. It is currently a joint venture between Sistema and RTRS and has in the region of 50,000 subscribers in Moscow and environs.
