Premiere has said it now has 225,000 customers for its Push-VOD service Premiere Direkt Plus, which it launched in 2005. The system uses a Humax PVR, where a special partition of the hard disk is reserved for the sevice. Premiere downloads a number number of movies overnight, which are available for viewing.
All content is encrypted on the player but decoded after an activation signal has been sent by Premiere to the PVR. Viewers can choose to view a movie anytime they want by sending a text message, entering an order on the Internet or calling a special phone line. Pricing varies between €1.99 and €5.99, which buys a 24 hour viewing window.
