EuroNews announced that it has obtained must-carry channel status in Switzerland. From today, the channel will be available on all analogue networks of Cablecom, which reaches 2.5 million households. The channel is already available via digital cable networks in 342,000 homes.
EuroNews, which broadcasts in Switzerland’s national languages (German, French and Italian), was awarded guaranteed-access status in March 2007 by the Federal Council. Switzerland is thus the first country to grant EuroNews must-carry status. EuroNews is now one of the channels that must be statutorily broadcast on all of the country’s analogue cable networks.
Today, EuroNews also announced it is available in the new Lufthansa video-on-demand service in its First and Business class. Each day, 7,000 passengers can watch the latest EuroNews magazines for 30 minutes. “EuroNews Features” is broadcast on Lufthansa flights between Europe and 78 destinations, covering 153 international flights per day.
