The Telco consortium Telco has finally secured a controlling 23.6% stake in Telecom Italia for a reported €4.1 billion. Telco is made up of Spain’s Telefónica (42.3%) and four Italian parties – Intesa Sanpaolo, Assiciurzaioni Generali, Mediobanca and Sintonia (57.7%), and the deal only went ahead following the approval of the Brazilian regulator Anatel. Both Telefónica and Telecom Italia have interests in the Latin American country’s mobile sector.
