Channel 4 has struck a third party deal with News Corp-owned FX that will see programming from the channel made available to download from 4oD. It follows similar deals with National Geographic Channel and ABC-Disney.
FX will provide 4oD with around 30 hours of programming per month from shows including Kenny vs Spenny, Charlie Jade, Urban Legends and Texas SWAT. However, some of the network’s more familiar shows including Nip Tuck, 24 and Family Guy will be missing from the service. The programmes have been licensed to other broadcasters, in particular Sky, which might have expected the downloads to be offered to its Sky Anytime service.
The FX shows will be priced at 99p for rental and must be viewed within 28 days of the original download.
