Following the introduction of a new order to some of the channels on the French DTT platform (TNT), some people will have to re-tune their digital receiver, according to the transmitter company TDF. The new channel line-up concerns all the regional FR3 channels, as well as all local broadcasters, following a decision by the CSA which prescribes the exact order of the channels in the EPG. If viewers fail to do this, they might up ending seeing a blank screen on some channels and missing out on some programmes. Higher end receivers are often capable of detecting such changes, but many viewers would still have to do this manually.
In Germany, the GSDZ (Gemeinsame Stelle Digitaler Zugang, or joint committee of digital television from the various media authorities) has ruled that TechniSat was in breach of the rules when it pushed RTL2 from channel 6 to channel 23 on the EPG of its satellite receivers and replaced it with its own TechniTipp TV on channel 6. RTL has protested against this move and the GSDZ agreed this was discriminatory.
